Before registering for a telc examination, please also read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
Deadline
Registration for a telc exam is usually possible up to 21 days (3 weeks) before the exam. However, we recommend registering early.
Exam Dates
You can find the exam dates for the coming months by clicking the gray registration button for the respective exam type.
- telc Deutsch A1
- Exam for basic German language skills, i.e. as required in the context of joining a spouse for the purpose of family reunification.
- telc Deutsch A2
- General language exam that you can normally take after an average of 250 – 300 teaching units.
- telc Deutsch B1
- Exam for good basic knowledge of German, e.g. when applying for German citizenship.
- telc Deutsch B1-B2 Pflege
- Exam for professional purposes designed for professionals working in nursing and geriatric care.
- telc Deutsch B2
- Exam for general German language skills at advanced level.
- telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule
- Exam for German knowledge needed for success at an advanced academic level.
- telc Deutsch C1
- Exam for general German language skills at a very advanced level with a spontaneous and fluent use of the language.
- telc Deutsch C2
- Exam that tests the knowledge of German at near-native speaker level.

Test Format:
The PlacementPlus test is an online assessment tool to test language skills (general and vocational) including a telephone interview to test speaking and listening skills. Writing skills are determined by essay tasks appropriate to the level.
Since this is a placement test, you will receive a placement result, but not a certificate!

Integration Course
Leben in Deutschland
We only offer the “Leben in Deutschland” test (naturalization test / Einbürgerungstest) in combination with an orientation course.
The orientation course usually takes place every four weeks, Monday through Friday, as a face-to-face course in the morning with 5 lessons per day, and lasts 4 weeks.
You should attend this course if you are eligible or required to attend an integration course, but you can also participate in the course without such a document if you need to take the “Leben in Deutschland” test (naturalization test / Einbürgerungstest).

demand - telc English A1 is a general language exam that you can usually take after 100-150 hours of instruction. Whether you are a pupil, a student, a professional or a pensioner, the exam is open to everyone. At level A1 you can communicate in a very simple way about concrete needs (e.g. introducing yourself, eating and drinking, shopping, living). You can use some very simple grammatical structures.
